Right now is a time of transition and change for almost everyone, so why fight it? In August 2009 Kathy decided to embrace change and pack up her home and studio to move from urban Chicago to Nevada City, California, a small town with an active artist community. Her home is a fairy cottage nestled into a garden which she walks through every day to get to her studio, another little cottage-type structure on the other end of the garden.
As the economy changed at the end of 2008, Kathy had to change with it. Her bustling studio has quieted in numbers of artists yet she is still busy. Her focus has changed from doing fewer national art fairs so she can remain in her idyllic country setting creating pieces for the many museum shops and galleries that carry her work across the country.
This time of transition has awakened many new creative ideas, and if Kathy can get on top of her orders and paperwork, her studio will prove to be a place for quiet nurturing creative exploration. You can follow her meanderings on her Taming the Tangle blog or by connecting with her on Facebook.
